The party searched the bugbears, finding items of small value.

The party checked out the barred doors, freeing many more orcs. Yoshi then scouted out more corridors, finding a room with two fire giants that were forcing dwarves to work, another room with two dozing hill giants, and another with two bugbears. Yoshi killed the two bugbears and returned to the party.

The whole party advanced to "git" the hill giants. The giants were still sleeping.
Yoshi attempted a coup de gras on a sleeping giant with an odd monk weapon. The giant woke up with a start.
Caelesti cast Hideous Laughter on the other giant, which woke up laughing.
The injured giant stood up, and Yoshi hit him again.
Talin started singing.
Torin moved to engage the standing giant, striking it with his Giant-Bane sword.

Yoshi struck the giant twice in a flurry of blows.
Caelesti crossed the room with dagger in hand, stopping at the laughing giant.
The giant struck Yoshi twice with its greatclub; one was very well-placed.
Talon and Torin cast cures on Yoshi.

Yoshi struck the giant once more.
Caelesti cast Magic Missiles at the wounded giant.
The angry giant attacked Yoshi with another well-placed slam. Its other attack missed, and Yoshi tripped it, knocking it out.
Torin stepped over the downed giant and attacked the laughing giant, but missed.

Yoshi advanced and struck the laughing giant.
Caelesti stabbed at it with her dagger.
Torin struck it twice with the Giant-Bane sword.

Yoshi struck the giant thrice in a flurry of blows, dropping it.

The party searched the giants, finding a gold chain with a fire opal (2000 gp). They then freed the orcs from the rooms behind the dead bugbear guards.

The fire giants seemed tough enough to require a plan. Caelesti suggested trying to taunt one away from the other by running off with a giant-sized weapon, while still disguised as an orc. At the ambush spot, Yoshi moved across the hall and hid in the hope of flanking a pursuing fire giant. Caelesti decided to grab a helmet in lieu of a large weapon, and knocked a pile of equipment to the ground.

There was a bellow, and giant footsteps approached.
When the first giant appeared around the corner, Caelesti threw the helmet at it and ran around the corner to hide behind Torin.
Everyone else waited patiently.
The other giant appeared at the end of the corridor.

One giant said it was just an orc and went back to work.
The other giant moved to investigate, and was surprised to see an elf and a human with the orc.
Yoshi used his magic anklet to appear behind the giant and attacked it, striking it twice.
Torin stepped up to flank it with Yoshi, and struck it twice with his Giant-Bane sword.
Caelesti cast Hideous Laughter on the giant, and it burst out in deep guffaws.
Talon struck her Chime of Agony to damage it a bit.

Yoshi struck it twice more.
Torin struck it again.
Talon struck her Chime of Agony to damage it a bit more.

Yoshi and Torin both struck it again, and it dropped.
Caelesti told everyone to hide again and called out to attract the last giant.
When the giant appeared, Caelest bluffed that the giant slipped while laughing and fell. She then ran around the corner.
The giant advanced to look at the dead giant and noted that it was dead.
Caelesti called out, "I didn't do it!"
The giant replied, "You will die just the same!", and moved to the end of the corridor.

Yoshi advanced and struck the giant.
Torin stepped up and struck it twice.
Caelesti cast Hideous Laughter on it, but it was not amused.
Talon started singing again.
The giant attacked Torin three times, badly wounding him.

Yoshi struck the giant three more times.
Torin cast Dimension Door and appeared behind Yoshi.
Caelesti cast Haste on the party.
Talon summoned a fiendish dire weasel.
The weasel bit the giant and latched on.

The fire giant attacked and killed the weasel. It then swung wildly at Yoshi.
Yoshi struck back, hitting twice.
Caelesti cast Magic Missiles at it, disabling it.
Talon struck her magic chime again, and the giant fell unconscious.

The fire giants each had a sack with 4000 gp.

The party freed the dwarves. Most ran off. One offered to stay back and help fight giants, then introduced himself as Mongo.

Talon: So, we wait to hear our loot.
Talon: We check out the rooms and don't find anything other than lots of dead Bugbears.

Talon: Talon hopes to rescue them later. But at least they can die free.
