The party turned onto a path that led away from town. They traveled until dusk. Carric located a suitable camping spot, and watches were set up.

Just before dawn, some heard a droning noise off in the distance. As it got closer, the droning sounded like "Nessey". Mavis woke Nessey. Yoshi woke Carric. Nessey drew a shortsword.

Mavis drew her bow. A creature flew into view, still droning "Nessey". Yoshi woke Caelesti and asked for a Fly spell. Caelesti cast Fly on Yoshi, and tried to go back to sleep. Yoshi told her to wake up again because something was approaching. Carric started casting.

Mavis shot two arrows; the first missed, the second seemed to go through it. Nessey runs up to the creature, saying "I'm here!" The creature swiped at Nessey with stickly hands; it's face looked somewhat like the sorcerer that fled Blourbast's room. Yoshi flanked the creature and struck it; fluids splattered him. Caelesti spotted the creature, said it looked like a construct, and, without getting up, cast Magic Missiles at the creature. Carric's spell completed; a hippogriff appeared and attacked the golem. Carric cast Magic Missiles at it.

Mavis shot more arrows, missing twice. Nessey tumbled away and drew her bow. The golem followed her; it again swiped at her and missed. Yoshi charged the golem and struck it. Caelesti stood up, stepped to the side to see past Nessey's horse, and Magic Missiled it again. The hippogriff advanced and clawed at the golem. Carric shot more Magic Missiles at it.

Mavis pulled out her rapier and ran it through the golem, splattering more fluilds on those nearby. Nessey struck the golem with her shortsword, splattering more fluids. The bloody straw-golem scratched Nessey's face. Yoshi struck at the golem three times, hitting once. Fluids splattered, blinding the hippogriff. Caelesti cast more Magic Missiles. The hippogriff, blinded, missed. Carric started casting.

Mavis struck the golem, and was blinded by splattered fluids. Nessey struck the golem with her sword. The creature struck at Nessey twice more. Yoshi struck at it three times. Caelesti cast more Magic Missiles. The blind hippogriff struck the golem. Carric's new spell completed; an air elemental appeared and attacked the golem. Carric cast Magic Missiles, fluids blinded Yoshi, and the golem fell. Caelesti reported that the golem was a Sending, and that the sorcerer was probably sacrificed to make it.

Caelesti used ordinary water to rinse people's blood-filled eyes; there seemed to be no permanent eye damage. Carric cured people's wounds. The party tried to rest some more before morning.

In the morning, Nessey wanted to find water to wash up. When she made that know, Caelesti cast Hygiene on her. Yoshi requested one as well.

The party continued toward the Lake of Faces. When the party reached a split in the road, Carric and Tan Kuran flew about to scout. The east path headed to the lake; the north path continued into woods.

Nessey's notes

Nessey: The DM recaps our last 3 sessions for the sake of Carric's player - who is conscious now.
Nessey: The player listens intently and discovers how he got so many mysterious bruises, especially on his head.
Nessey: Magic with a Stick. Not to be confused with the Order of the Stick. Order of the Bone, pershpas.
Nessey: We are marching away from town.
Nessey: Mavis is paranoid that the crowd might follow.
Nessey: Caelesti explains that the crowd dispersed with torches and pitch forks.
Nessey: Nessey - Oh! But not all the councilmen were bad.
Nessey: Carric - well, if they kill them all then they will also get the bad ones. I am feeling faint. My hair is less golden. I am more concerned about myself and my hair color than the safety of innocent townsfolk. How does my ass look? Am I still handsome?
Nessey: Mavis - I was impressed with Caelesti's raising of the dead. She is the prophetess of the shadow folk.
Nessey: Caelesti - that's what others said, but I said not many times. But what the majority believe will go into their teachings.
Nessey: Carric - how do I look? I feel less able in some ways and yet more able in others.
Nessey: Carric - How do I look?
Nessey: Carric combs his hair and looks in the mirror - good thing he is not trying to ride a horse at the same time.
Nessey: We talk about going north of Pfarb Durim to map the Lake of Reflecting. Faces.

Nessey: Evening comes. We look for a place to camp.
Nessey: Carric brags that he is better now at finding a camp site and at camping.
Nessey: Carric's head got bigger after he was dropped on it.

Nessey: Yoshi hears it getting louder. He perceives it to be calling the name of his companion, Nessey.
Nessey: He pauses.
Nessey: Something comes into vision.
Nessey: It is flying through the air.
Nessey: It looks to be unclear and spooky.
Nessey: It is moaning about Nessey.
Nessey: Yoshi - who are you? What do you want?
Nessey: "Nessey." "Nessey" "Nes-sey"

Nessey: Caelesti thinks - (knowledge arcana) - there is something constructed about this, but I don't quite get it. This was constructed somehow via magic.
Nessey: Yoshi asks Caelesti to cast Fly on him, pretty please.

Nessey: Yoshi realises Caelesti is still asleep and shakes her awake.
Nessey: Hello? Hello? Is someone calling me? says Nessey and looks around.
Nessey: Caelesti casts Fly on Yoshi, doesn't get up, and closes her eyes again.
Nessey: Yoshi - says to stay awake, we are having an encounter.
Nessey: Carric starts casting a one-round spell.

Nessey: She shoots an arrow at it and it goes whistling by.

Nessey: There is real cloth, but not clear what the cloth is hanging over. It is corporeal.
Nessey: The hand is like straw and sticks and is wet.
Nessey: It continues to call longingly, "Nes-seey... Nes-seeey"
Nessey: About 5ft up. The creature hovers.
Nessey: It was a Sorcerer at one time.
Nessey: Yoshi flies around the other side of it, flanking with Nessey.

Nessey: Caelesti says it as some sort of sending. She suspects the Sorcerer was sacrificed to make this and it was sent after Nessey in particular. But Caelesti doesn't know who made it, for sure.
Nessey: Caelesti said if it was made by Blourbast, he could keep sacrificig and make more.
Nessey: Carric - but it only knows the name of Nessey. So the rest of us are safe.
Nessey: Nessey - Pantiquod might recall Carric's name.
Nessey: Carric - I think Blourbast the Ghoul made it or his kids.
Nessey: Nessey - Well, it's gross!!
Nessey: Nessey asks Carric for some healing.
Nessey: He says he noticed she was looking poorly.

Nessey: She gains 14 over night.
Nessey: So Nessey is back at fall hp.
Nessey: Mavis cleans up Goldie, her mule.
Nessey: Nessey listens for a steam or creek or river? She hears none.
Nessey: Nessey - we need to find some water to wash up, Carric. Mister Ranger.

Nessey: Yoshi knows it came from Caelesti and asks for some Hygiene. Caelesti casts him clean.
Nessey: We break camp and continue north to find the Lake of Faces.
Nessey: We are back on the road again.
Nessey: Carric speaks of meeting a man at a castle.
Nessey: by the lake?
Carric: investigate the Lake of Faces - High Wizard Chamferton lives in a castle; North of Pfarb Durim
Nessey: Caelesti recalls being told that a Wizard lives in a castle by the lake.
Nessey: Should we visit him or make a point of avoiding him?
Nessey: Carric does not have all the pieces of his costume, but does the High Wizard have anything to do with that?
Nessey: The Armiger Jumarie has next piece and will only give it once we check out the Lake of Faces.
Nessey: The path continues north and there is another heading off the east. The east path goes up the hill. Nessey wonders if it goes to the Wizard's castle?
Nessey: Carric and Tan Kuran scout together.
Nessey: The two Eagles fly over the hill.
Nessey: There appears to be a lake on the other side of the hill via the East path.
Nessey: Then the Eagles fly over the north path - which continues along through the forest.
Nessey: They follow it further or farther and it just keeps going through the woods.
Nessey: As for the lake on the other side of the hill on the east path - the path follows the south shore of the lake - with posts set up - and along the path, past the lake, there appears to be a castle. The lake is pretty big.
