Torin noticed a secret door. Yoshi listened at the door; he thought he heard the sound of a weapon being sharpened. He looked at everyone knowingly. Nobody did anything.

A short time later, everyone heard a scream coming from behind the door. Yoshi tried to open it, but it didn't budge. Mavis shouldered it hard, and it popped open.

Inside the room, a man with a dagger stood in front of a chained wounded woman. Mavis stepped into the room and suggested that the man drop his weapon or he would wish he had. Yoshi raced into the room and slugged the man. The man seared Yoshi with magical fire. Caelesti advanced, drawing her dagger.

Nessey advanced and struck the man with her sword. Yoshi launched a flurry of blows at him, and knocked him out.

Mavis unlocked the prisoner's chains and led her away from the guard. Torin cured the guard to bring him to consciousness. Nessey questioned him. She asked him why he was torturing the girl. He said it was his job as a Divulger, or information gatherer.

Mavis and Yoshi questioned the girl. She explained that she entered the city to find the swag. Mavis was appreciative. She said she was captured right at the entrance by a group of Armigers and Sorcerers. Now she just wanted to leave. Torin escorted her out.

The party heard rustling up the corridor. Yoshi sneaked forward to investigate; the others followed at a safe distance. Yoshi saw a servant who ambled off. Yoshi led the others down the corridor that the servant came out of. Yoshi advanced to a lit room, convinced a mute servant to go over to him, and knocked him out. Yoshi returned to the group. Caelesti cast Message on everybody.

The party returned to the main corridor, and Yoshi caught up with the first servant. The man turned left at a y; Yoshi led the others the other direction. The party ran across another servant, and Yoshi knocked him out. Mavis asked how we can question them if Yoshi keeps knocking them out. Mavis discovered that the servants didn't have their tongues anyway.

The party took a corridor heading downward. Along the side of the corridor, at one point, was a curtain. Yoshi peeked behind the curtain, and looked down upon a large room with a large bed. A sickly man was laying on the bed, and a woman stood nearby talking to him. Yoshi recognized the woman as the innkeeper from the inn the party turned down due to its lack of cleanliness. Yoshi listened in.

The woman reported that there were intruders; guards were found knocked out. The man said to take the traitorous guards to the boneyard; she said it was already handled.

She commented that he caught the plague. He said he was immune, though liked to eat the shadow people. They talked about their plan to give the plague-ridden city above to their offspring, Huld and Huldra. He was playing with a necklace that had a bone in it. He said that there were still some shadow people in cages.

Since Blourbast had Armigers and Sorcerers with him too, the party decided to look for the shadow people first. Farther down the corrider, the party ran into another servant. With little persuasion, the servant led the party to the caged shadow people. Caelesti, with a Fly spell, retrieved all of the cages, setting them gently on the floor so that they could be opened.

Nessey's notes

Nessey: We avoided the main entrance with lights and sound. Torin found a secret door for us. Now he is acting like a Zombie.
Nessey: Yoshi and Torin defeated the defenseless skelletons and rotting dead people.
Nessey: We see a door to the left.

Nessey: Yoshi hears someone clearing their throat and humming in a tuneless way.
Nessey: Okay, like metal scraping on metal. Like someone trying to hum and sharpen their weapon at the same time.
Nessey: Yoshi looks at everyone except Mavis.
Nessey: He makes eye contact.
Nessey: He wants to set up for battle.
Nessey: Nessey - perhaps Caelesti should check for traps?

Nessey: We see a pretty beat up female prisioner chained to the wall. A man standing holding a sharp knife that fits certain wounds. He asking her questions. He wheels around on his wheels as we enter.
Nessey: He says - Who are you? Who are you?
Nessey: Mavis is first.

Nessey: She is right there.
Nessey: She takes a 5 foot step inside.
Nessey: Mavis - Drop that knife. Step forward and talk to us or you will wish you had.
Nessey: Victim bleeds.

Nessey: Nessey steps into the room with her swords drawn and argues with the man to let go of the poor woman.
Nessey: Nessey is feeling Barbaric.

Nessey: She is checking on the Prisoner.

Nessey: Caelesti searches him for a key.
Nessey: Mavis speaks to the woman prisioner.

Nessey: Mavis takes prisioner aside and so does Yoshi and talks to her.
Nessey: Caelesti and Nessey interrogate the torturer.
Nessey: Caelesti is still his pockets for keys.
Nessey: He enjoys this.

Nessey: Torin goes over and cures the enemy.
Nessey: Brings him conscious.
Nessey: Nessey asks "Why were you torturing this poor woman?"
Nessey: MAN - it is my job.
Nessey: Nessey - What you suspect her of?
Nessey: MAN - I was given questions to ask her.
Nessey: Nessey - what were those questions?
Nessey: MAN - why did she come to Poffle and why did she sneak in?
Nessey: Caelestic - We snuck in too.
Mavis: Divulger
Nessey: MAN - it is just a matter of time until you are chained to wall and I am questioning you too.
Nessey: MAN - I am a Divulger.
Nessey: He makes fire.
Nessey: Nessey - how do we enter the city from here?
Nessey: Carric - what is this place?
Nessey: MAN - go in front gate. Poffle.
Nessey: Nessey - where does the secret passage lead?
Nessey: MAN - what secret passage?
Nessey: Nessey - that one - leading down?
Nessey: MAN - leads into servant quarters of one of upper levels. We have lots of levels of city.
Nessey: Nessey - are there extra servant clothes in the servant quarters.
Nessey: Caelesti - what would be the point of that?
Nessey: Nessey - to disguise ourselves, silly.
Nessey: Caelesti - they will notice our hair.
Nessey: Nessey - we can wear hoods.
Nessey: MAN - I can cut your hair, he fingers his knife.
Nessey: He says Blourbast gets the prisioners.
Nessey: He says Blourbast is is on a lower level.
Nessey: Nessey - is it underground?
Nessey: MAN -DUH?
Nessey: Yoshi call over and asks his name - Gormic.
Nessey: He is wearing a brown shirt with red stains.
Nessey: He says he just always stays in that room. Sometimes Blourbast stops by.
Nessey: He goes on and on about his job.
Nessey: Finail is the woman's name. She was sneaking in to Poffle to obtain a Swag or something.
Nessey: She says Pfarb Durin is profitable and it all goes to Poffle, so they say.
Nessey: They are interdependent cities.
Nessey: She says she was looking for cash.
Nessey: A swag of cash.

Nessey: The rest of us go over and listen in.
Nessey: Caelesti is intrigued by all the things she could be mistaken for
Nessey: Nessey - I thought you didn't want to go around in disguise?
Nessey: Cae - I don't want to be disguised as a peasant.
Nessey: Finail - I came for the loot, I am on my way out if I can make it.
Nessey: Finial - No that can't be true.
Nessey: Carric gobs.
Nessey: Caelesti says we are here to help our friend.
Nessey: Nessey warns lady prisoner to stay away from STD Carric.
Nessey: Yoshi stingily cures himself,

Nessey: We shackled MAN and gagged him so he could not call out.
Nessey: Yoshi told Mavis not to kill him. Yoshi is becoming good again.

Nessey: Yoshi turns invisible. Others hear rustling ahead. But Nessey does not hear.
Nessey: Or perhaps Yoshi does not turn invisible.

Nessey: He signals others to be quiet and he tries to move siliently.

Nessey: Yoshi goes on far ahead. BRAVE Yoshi!
Nessey: Caelesti casts Fly on herself.
Nessey: How tall is the tunnel?
Nessey: 10ft.
Nessey: Caelesti has not actually flown yet.
Nessey: Guy steps out of side tunnel, dressed in poor clothes. He is holding himself and shivering.
Nessey: He is human, 5'7".
Nessey: He looks subservient.
Nessey: Yoshi backs away?
Nessey: Silently.
Nessey: yes.
Nessey: He is looking opposite direction and doesn't see Yoshi.
Nessey: Slowly, slowly... he starts moving down passage away from us.
Nessey: Yoshi follows at a distance.
Nessey: Yosho looks down left passage and sees some illumination way down there.
Nessey: Yoshi stops and waits for the rest of us.

Nessey: Yoshi says we should go off the left passage.

Nessey: Yoshi continues to the next fork and hears snoring from a dark passage.
Nessey: He looks into a lighted room.
Nessey: A feable looking guy is sitting in the room with a piece of paper and charcoal and making marks and sipping from his mug.

Mavis rolls d20: [6] = 6
Nessey: Yoshi attempts to hide, badly and succeeds in hiding badly.
Nessey: Guy looks up and sees Yoshi and stands up and clutches his hand to his mouth and is speachless.
Nessey: Yoshi puts his fingers to his lips and motions him to approach and raises his hand palms forward.
Nessey: he looks curious and moves to Yoshi.
Nessey: Yoshi whispers - "who are you?"
Nessey: He opens his eyes wide and shakes his head.
Nessey: Yoshi sighs loudly.
Nessey: Yoshi takes a 5ft step and knocks him unconscious.
Nessey: Yoshi is getting evil again.
Nessey: Poor little guy slumps to the floor.
Nessey: Yoshi wants to go back up or down the main path.
Nessey: Mavis argues with Yoshi about going back and killing the poor peasant guy because he will wake up later.
Nessey: Caelesti is anxious to move on.
Nessey: Yoshi sees other peasant walking down main passage.
Nessey: Servant comes to a fork in the passage and goes left.
Nessey: Yoshi follows and looks both ways.
Nessey: Nessey follows Yoshi.
Nessey: Left passage is level. Right passage descends.
Nessey: Yoshi leads us down the descending right passage.
Nessey: We come to a triple fork. Yoshi sniffs them.

Nessey: Passage to left descends more than others and has a rank smell.

Nessey: Mavis smells the passages too.
Nessey: She says more pungent to the left.
Nessey: Yoshi takes straight one, not pungent one to the left.
Nessey: We follow our new leader.
Nessey: Yoshi slinks along in skulking mode.

Nessey: He listens.

Nessey: Nessey listens too, but not as well. Mavis does not listen at all.
Nessey: Servant appears from passage on the left. Smaller passage.
Nessey: He notices us same time we notice him.
Nessey: He brings his hands to his mouth in horror and makes no sound.
Nessey: Yoshi knocks him out.
Nessey: Mavis wants Yoshi to heal him so we can talk to him. Yoshi says, "next time" and chuckles.
Nessey: Mavis says - Yoshi, do we know where we are going? What is our goal? To get lost?
Nessey: Caelesti - We want Blourbast
Nessey: Mavis shakes guy who is unconscous and his mouth falls open and he has no tongue.
Nessey: Carric coughs and says they can write.
Nessey: Carric talks very loudly.
Nessey: Carric says to question him with a pen.
Nessey: Mavis says she prefers a knife.
Nessey: Nessey - maybe we should have gone down the stinky passage - cause it was going down more?
Nessey: Yoshi - I don't like the smell.
Nessey: Mavis - I think going down is good. They can't talk anyway.
Nessey: Caelesti - we could do charades.
Nessey: Yoshi agrees go down the down passage.
Nessey: Yoshi holds his nose.
Nessey: Nessey leads the way, at least at first.
Nessey: Nessey - anyone joining me?
Nessey: Yoshi catches up and leads.
Nessey: Nessey - Monks first.
Nessey: Yoshi continues to complain about the smell - Pee-you
Nessey: Yoshi finds an alcove on the left with a cloth over a light.
Nessey: He looks behind the cloth.
Nessey: Nessey continues along the passage, past Yoshi.
Nessey: Behind the cloth is a balcony overlooking a room 20ft below with many people.
Nessey: Yoshi watches and listens, peaking around the curtain.
Nessey: Nessey peers ahead.
Nessey: Yoshi tells us what he sees.
Nessey: Yoshi sees a large bed with curtains around it and large shape lying under the covers.
Nessey: Another humanoid stands next to the bed.
Nessey: Yoshi sees large man lying in the bed. He seems to be coughing. (Shadow plague?) Grey lady to the right.
Nessey: Woman has winged cap and feathered cap and looks familar.
Nessey: She looks like Lady who was running the Inn we decided to stay at. The Inn Nessey thought was too dirty.
Nessey: Pantiquod. She is wearing a Gamesmen outfit we don't recognise.
Yoshi rolls Sk:Listen (d20 + 9 + 4): [15 + 9 + 4] = 28
Nessey: The man looks sick and may be Blourbast.
Nessey: He says, "What is it you say, Sister?"
Nessey: She says, "I think we have Intruders, Brother. The guards above were found unconscious."
Nessey: Man - "Oh, so some people have come in and overpowered our guards. They didn't kill them? Drag them off to the bone pits. Those guards will not betray us any further."
Nessey: Sister says - It has been taken care of.
Nessey: Guy coughs.
Nessey: Then he sits up.
Nessey: Yoshi can see him more clearly. His face is covered in hideous growths - dripping in ichor. And he smells.
Nessey: He coughs more and grabs hands to his chest and he has a necklace. And his hands are covered with growths too and dripping.
Nessey: Sister - you have gone a little too far, my dear, I'm afraid you yourself have caught the Ghoul Plague.
Nessey: he says - nothing is wrong with me. I am immune.
Nessey: She says - it is the forbidden food.
Nessey: He says - I always eat what I want. I am immune.
Nessey: She says - but you have not eaten Shadow people before. You have lured them in and sent some above to be eaten.
Nessey: He says - Is that not our plan to cause Ghoul Plague to cleanse Pfarb Durim of current inhabitants so I can give to Huld and Huldra?
Nessey: She says - but did you eat of shadow people yourself?
Nessey: He says - yes, but I am immune.
Nessey: Necklace he is wearing has a bone on it hanging from a chain.
Nessey: She says, "I think you have gone too far, brother. It is all well to promise our offspring Pfarb durim. But what good if we all die, dear Blourbast?"
Nessey: Pantiquod continues to argue with him while he continues to be in denial.
Nessey: He claims he locked up new shadow people in cages and din't eat those ones.
Nessey: Pantiquod says - What of darling Huld - what if he catches Ghoul plague?
Nessey: B - says he is at far end of city in isolation.
Nessey: B - maybe shadow people know how to heal me.
Nessey: B - he tried to force Healers to cure him.
Nessey: Pantiquod - Healers can't be forced.
Nessey: Blour = wants his son to have Pfarb Durim. He wants to be cured, but others to all die in Pfarb durim.
Nessey: Armigers with drawn swords stand about. And others by door with Spikey Crowns.
Yoshi rolls Ability:Wisdom (d20 + 4): [7 + 4] = 11

Nessey: Yoshi draws back to confer with us.
Nessey: Mavis says there are Armigers and Sorcerers down there.
Nessey: Carric talks about how Huld was behind the kidnapping of the King.
Nessey: Nessey - perhaps he was trying to take over another city.
Nessey: Mavis - his kid as bad as Blourbast.
Nessey: Carric - must have a daughter too.
Nessey: Nessey - incestuous - sister brother kids.
Nessey: Mavis - Sounds that way!
Nessey: Nessey - let's just get the necklace and go.
Nessey: Yoshi - should we just jump over the balcony?
Nessey: Caelesti - I can cast fly on all of you.
Nessey: Nessey - we could wait until Pantiquod leaves and then there would be one less person to fight.
Nessey: Caelesti - Pantiquod seems evil.
Nessey: Carric - Pantiquod seems reasonable.
Nessey: Nessey - I can do Protection from Evil on 3 of us
Nessey: Caelesti asks abour rescuing the shadow people and what should we do with Blourbast - kill or capture?
Nessey: Nessey - should we try to save shadow folk first?
Nessey: Yoshi - no.
Nessey: Carric - yes.
Nessey: Caelesti -maybe
Nessey: Mavis - nothing
Nessey: Yoshi - We have a chance now - if they get up a larger group, it will be harder.
Nessey: Mavis - there may be more people in hall and summoning distance.
Nessey: Nessey - I can be invisible for a couple rounds - with my cloak.
Nessey: Nessey - I will fly down and jank it off him and fly back.
Nessey: Yoshi - really?
Nessey: Yoshi - I like the general idea.
Nessey: Nessey - If I yank the necklace off him - he might call more guards and make it harder for us to rescue the shadow people.
Nessey: Mavis - they are likely to have replaced - even add more - guards up above in the cave. I don't think we can go back the way we came. We need to explore more and perhaps rescue the Shadow people while doing so.
Nessey: Caelesti _ I don't think we can sneak out with Blourbast and Pantiquod.
Nessey: Yoshi - I am amenable to "summary judgement."
Nessey: Carric - at least for Pantiquod and and Blourbast, we take no prisioners.
Nessey: Yoshi for the guards we knock them unconscious if we can. What are we going to do? Run through all of Poffle killing everybody?
Nessey: Mavis grins.
Nessey: Caelesti chuckles.
Nessey: Nessey - no, we can't do that!
Nessey: Carric coughs.
Nessey: Nessey - let us continue down this passage and seek other exits and the Shadow People.
Nessey: Yoshi - let us not kill everything that moves.
Nessey: Caelesti - unless they are chained and moaning.
Yoshi rolls Sk:Spot (d20 + 10 + 4): [17 + 10 + 4] = 31
Nessey: Mavis tells Yoshi to lead on. He has to make a Spot check.
Nessey: He sees a Servant up ahead.
Nessey: Yoshi raps on the wall.
Nessey: "I am Yoshi. I'm a Monk. Talk to me. And don't talk Junk."
Nessey: Man gapes and freezes.
Nessey: Yoshi motions to come up to him.
Nessey: Yoshi says, "We need some information. Can you write?"
Nessey: His eyes are big. He nods.
Nessey: Yoshi - do you have writing materials on you?
Nessey: He pulls out a piece of charcoal and parchment.
Nessey: Yoshi - draw a map, from here, where are the Shadow People being held prisioner?
Nessey: He shrinks down.
Nessey: Yoshi grabs him from scruff of neck and shakes him and repeats.
Nessey: He shudders and gestures for us to follow him.
Nessey: We follow.
Nessey: He takes us to a passage on the right and quivers and crouches and covers his head - as though he knows Yoshi will knock him out.
Nessey: Caelesti - thank you very much (in friendly voice) Caelesti leads.
Nessey: Yoshi passes by her and leads.
Nessey: Do we leave Servant conscious?
Nessey: We leave Carric in the rear.
Nessey: We follow Yoshi.
