The king left to consult with his advisors (dragons). The party returned to the inn's commonroom. Later, the king returned, having decided that he did not need the party to investigate Hell's Maw (the area behind his kidnapping).

The entourage continued to Reavesbridge and entered the main inn there. The King seemed nervous and disappeared with his advisors. The party spent some time in that commonroom.

Near the party was a table with a man, dressed like Carric -- a Shifter, and two ladies. When the King later returned with his advisors, he approached this table. The older lady was a Healer, Silkhands. The younger, Jinian, was dressed plainly; she was the King's intended, though they had never met. Jinian commented on being tired from the journey, so the King left with the older woman.

Nessey, Mavis, and Caelesti strode over to the other table, because Nessey wanted to liberate Jinian. Jinian assumed that Nessey was hitting on her and said she wasn't interested. Caelesti gave Nessey a kiss on the cheek, and Nessey went away embarrassed. Carric came over a bit later and talked about pombis with the Shifter, Peter. Jinian left during the pombi talk. Carric asked about Xammer and an Armiger there. Peter said she was a cartographer.

The party retired for the evening. In the morning, the King gave a parting speech to the party and wished them well. Carric asked about where to stay in Xammer; Jinian mentioned an inn. The King and entourage then headed north, and the party headed south.

Nessey's notes

Nessey: We have just finished locking up the imposter(s).
Nessey: The King leaves us to seek out his advisors. He owes us a debt of gratitude, he says.
Nessey: It is late afternoon.
Nessey: Nessey - do we want to go on a mission to Hell's Maw to seek out the bad man who is gaming against him.
Nessey: Yoshi - we offered to investigate for him, he said he'd consider it.
Nessey: Nessey - but do we want to or do we want to follow Brianna and Talon?
Nessey: Yoshi says "let's play shuffle board" and not worry about it for now.
Nessey: The Inn Keeper admits, sheepishly, that they have no Shuffle Board at the Inn.
Nessey: Yoshi says, "And they call themselves Gamers!"
Nessey: We all order drinks and have good cheer.
Nessey: Yoshi wants foo-foo drinks. He is turning into a girl-man.
Nessey: Next morning, the King appears at breakfast looking like his normal self.
Nessey: Yoshi asks if we are being sent to Hell's Maw.
Nessey: King says no, it is a big intrigue, a big mystery and perhaps a very dangerous one.
Nessey: King says not urgent, though
Nessey: Nessey has no coin. Mavis offers to make some trades for nut armor for Nessey so that Nessey doesn'tave to trade in her natural pearl engagement ring.
Nessey: Men speak of nut cod pieces.
Nessey: An atheletic type of some kind.
Nessey: Nutty-buddy.
Nessey: See video.
Nessey: I have new armor now. But I can't wear it yet until I talk to the DM.
Nessey: Nut shell, carefully fitted, especially in the chest area.
Nessey: Two big walnuts.
Nessey: Or are they pecans?
Nessey: Won't help Nessey hide in a field of nuts.
Nessey: Details later.
Nessey: WE arrive in Reavesbridge
Nessey: As King rides into town to meet his intended, he is looking nervous. He has been distracted the whole trip, except when talking to Caelesti.
Nessey: We have not seen the prisioners since Leamer.
Nessey: Nessey - perhaps they escaped and that's why he is looking nervous?
Nessey: Nessey - or maybe he is concerned his "intended" will have been substituted.
Nessey: Yoshi tells Mavis to "explain things" to Nessey.
Nessey: Mavis takes Nessey aside.
Nessey: Mavis - perhaps Wolfy, I mean the King, is not as self-assured as a Prince of the Otter tribe and has doubts as to the princess he is marrying.
Nessey: Mavis suggests Caelesti is really the one the King loves.
Nessey: Nessey - oh, but he is the King, he can always have Caelesti as his concubine.
Nessey: Mavis - ahhhh, yes. Well.
Nessey: Nessey to Caelesti - So, you are becoming the King's concubine?
Nessey: Caelesti _ what? what?
Nessey: Nessey - That's what Mavis said.
Nessey: Caelesti - what?
Nessey: Nessey - Well, it's what she implied.
Nessey: Caelesiti - First I've heard.
Nessey: Carric - The concubine is always the last to know.
Nessey: Nessey - He has to marry for political reasons, but you are the one he really loves. So you will be the Number ONE concubine.
Nessey: We arrive at an Inn.
Nessey: We go and sit around a table for refreshments.
Nessey: What is the name of the Inn?
Nessey: Peda Stool Inn
Nessey: Table nearby - 3 people, 2 women and a man.
Nessey: Older and younger woman.
Nessey: Younger woman in plain clothing. Older in regal. Young man in shifter costume.
Nessey: Carric - might be games costumes - on older woman and not necessarily younger woman.
Nessey: Older one is Carric's age. Younger one might be Nessey's age.
Nessey: King enters. Looks at our table, smiles and nods. Looks at other table.
Nessey: Takes a deep breath and walks over.
Nessey: We listen intently.
Nessey: He bows to older, fancier woman. "Ahhh, my lady, I assume you are she I have come to meet. I am King Kelver."
Nessey: Older lady - My Lord, I am delighted to meet you, but I am Silkhands the Healer. I believe you have come to meet my companion.
Nessey: The younger one is not as pretty, much more plain.
Nessey: Jinian
Nessey: Nessey - why isn't she more dressed up if she is a Princess.
Nessey: Mavis - maybe she is not a Princess. I like the way she looks. Practical clothes. Traveling clothes.
Nessey: Nessey - Yes, but a woman should look a nice as possible when meeting her intended beloved.
Nessey: The King is comely.
Nessey: The "Intended" is plain.
Nessey: The King's face falls very, very slightly, only Mavis and Yoshi notice.
Nessey: King is very charming to Jinian.
Nessey: He speaks of her brother, Mendost.
Nessey: Connect between domains.
Nessey: He said he heard she was suitable.
Nessey: Jinnian says - Mendost, even if he is my brother is not necessarily my ally, but I am pleased to meet you. I am grateful to the goodwill you showed to me when I was in Xammer.
Nessey: King leads Silkhands off and asks her how the journey was hard and leaves Jinnian sitting and talking to the young Shifter.
Nessey: Nessey - I think he is finding another concubine.
Nessey: Carric - Caelesti, you better work to keep your position.
Nessey: Jinian looks relieved when King goes off with Silkhands.
Nessey: Young Shifter's brows furrows when he looks at Silkhands and back at Jinian.
Nessey: Jinian looks relieved.
Nessey: Hello
Nessey: King's Dragon appear confused.
Nessey: Yoshi orders alien and unfamilar tea where-ever he goes.
Nessey: Caelesti - you could talk to the other shifter, Carric.
Nessey: Carric: I am not in that outfit anymore.
Nessey: Mavis - are you embarrassed of your abilities?
Nessey: Carric: I am proud of my shiftiness, but I am pretending to be a pawn.
Nessey: Mavis - pawns don't talk to gamesmen.
Nessey: Just then a pawn comes up and whispers to Shifter and Jinian.
Nessey: Jinian listens with interest. Pawn throws up his hands and walks out the door.
Nessey: Shifter throws up his hands too and scowls and broods over his mug.
Nessey: Nessey - I don't think Jinian wants to marry the King.
Nessey: We talk about how Jinian thinks she met King, but doesn't recall.
Mavis: Mendost is her brother
Nessey: Nessey goes over to the table.
Nessey: Carric - wait!
Nessey: Nessey passes Mavis. Mavis grabs her arm.
Nessey: Mavis - where are you going?
Nessey: Nessey, I am concerned about the poor young lady.
Nessey: Mavis - do you want to listen or talk to her?
Nessey: Nessey - both.
Nessey: Mavis - how about we all go over and talk to her?
Nessey: Nessey - why don't just you and I go over.
Nessey: Mavis - what about the young shifter?
Nessey: Nessey - we are pawns, they won't attack us.
Nessey: Caelesti - she doesn't too upset.
Nessey: Carric - we don't want to screw up national politics.
Nessey: Yoshi - stay away from her.
Nessey: Nessey - I could talk to her about the plight of the pawns or about women's Liberation.
Nessey: Yoshi - that is why you should NOT go over.
Nessey: Mavis - she does not look upset.
Nessey: Mavis - I am happy to go talk to the Shifter.
Nessey: Caelesti and Nessey go with Mavis.
Nessey: Nessey - I think just us women should go.
Nessey: Yoshi is in a stupor.
Nessey: Carric waits it out with Yoshi.
Nessey: Mavis says "hello, friends, I'm Mavis."
Nessey: Caelesti - I'm Caelesti.
Nessey: Mavis - we saw you talking to the King and we are interested in talking to you.
Nessey: Woman smiles, I am Jinian.
Nessey: Young Shifter pulls himself together and says, "I'm Peter."
Nessey: Jinian invites us to have a seat.
Nessey: Nessey - I am Nessey. Thank you. - Takes a seat.
Nessey: Mavis - we have been traveling with the King.
Nessey: Jinian we traveled to see King and he seems to have gone off.
Nessey: Caelesti - with your friend.
Nessey: Jinian - yes, Silkhands has been my friend for years and Peter's too.
Nessey: Peter acts uncomfortable.
Nessey: Mavis - we came over cause my friend Nessey was very interested in talking to you.
Nessey: Nessey - I was engaged once myself and you wouldn't know it but I am from a royal house. I thought you might want to talk.
Nessey: Jinian - I am of a noble house, but not a princess. This is a marriage of convenience.
Nessey: King is in NE. My house is in SW of this land.
Nessey: Jinian - I am not my brother's pawn.
Nessey: I was kidnapped and sold into slavery and engaged to marry the King of Realm there.
Nessey: Jinian - I hear you - you would have rather been back home.
Nessey: Nessey - yes.
Nessey: Jinian - I am not a pawn. I have been trained in Vorbold's house.

Nessey: J - I was raised in my own little domain of not much significance. My brother had high hopes and made negotiations without my knowledge. But I am NOT going to be anyone's pawn. But I saw some advantage here. It is not seemly for a girl like me to go to Dragon's Purlieu, I said, without 5 years training in Xammer in Vorbold's house.
Nessey: J - I don't see that the King is interested in me. My companion caught his eye.
Nessey: Nessey - you trust her, right? Ooops, I shouldn't ask.
Nessey: J - She is a healer and trusted everywhere.
Nessey: Nessey whispers her help if needed, against oppression.
Nessey: The Oppression by men, Nessey nudges her.
Nessey: J - I have met women who think as you do.
Nessey: J - I know exactly what you mean. I may not follow it myself. Those women who thrust aside the men.
Nessey: Nessey - women are superior, you know.
Nessey: J - I have heard that.
Nessey: J - Young Nessey - go find the woman of your dreams.
Nessey: Nessey is taken aback. That's not what I mean!
Nessey: Caelesti - come along sweetie, and puts arms around Nessey.
Nessey: J - Aw, go off with your partner, Nessey.
Nessey: Carric comes over says he has been traveling with the King.
Nessey: Carric starts talking about Pombis
Nessey: Peter stares off into space, Well, they are not so bad. You just have to know how to deal with them.
Nessey: Carric - other than killing them before they kill you.
Nessey: Peter - most people speak of running away from Pombis, not killing them.
Nessey: Carric - yes, we ran away from some sleeping Pombis.
Nessey: Peter - duh?
Nessey: Carric - some came by when WE were sleeping and we defended ourselves as best we could.
Nessey: Peter - your talents must be considerable.
Nessey: J - looks at Peter, sighs, rolls eyes, and runs away.
Nessey: Carric - so where are you guys from?
Nessey: P - Xammer and School Town.
Nessey: Carric asks about Vorbold's house in Xammer.
Nessey: P - too bad Jinian left. She was schooled there.
Nessey: Carric - I've always wanted to go there and am heading there now.
Nessey: I am looking for Armager Jouemarie.
Nessey: P - I think she is the Armiger and Cartographer there.
Nessey: P - Highest of high young ladies go there to learn young lady skills. Silkhands is a teacher there. Armigmer Joumarie teaches there too.
Nessey: Carric says it's nicer to fly and make maps than crawl around the ground like We do.
Nessey: P - who is "we?"
Nessey: P - why do you crawl?
Nessey: Carric - if we find a low cave, etc...
Nessey: Caelesti - I was told I was an Armiger, but I'm not really.
Nessey: P - what do you mean?
Nessey: Cae - I was told I'm an Armiger because I can fly.
Nessey: P - you can fly?
Nessey: Cae - I can do other things too.
Nessey: P - where did you go to school?
Nessey: Cae - I didn't go to school.
Nessey: P - you are an untrained talent, how fascinating! what else can you do?
Nessey: Cae - I can beguile and do sorcerer stuff.

Nessey: P - attempts to classify Caelesti.
Nessey: He can't classify her, it is beyond what he reached in the index.
Nessey: Nessey goes out to check the horse and mule.
Nessey: P - tells Caelesti to go to a school to have her talents assessed.
Nessey: P - what about your two? Aee you Gamesmen?
Nessey: Carric - but if she is untrained, is she really a Gamesmen?
Nessey: P - yes.
Nessey: Carric - but if she is untrained, she won't be challenged?
Nessey: P - oh, no, she can still be challenged.
Nessey: Carric - but is there no protection for the untrained?
Nessey: P - not unless you are in a school town and wear a ribbon. Otherwise you should not broadcast your talents.
Nessey: Carric - but aren't you broadcasting your talents by wearing Shifter outfit?
Nessey: P - yes, but I don't always follow what Chance tells me.
Nessey: Carric - you are your own man?
Nessey: P - I am at least 18 years old and I know it all.
Nessey: P - Have you ever noticed that older people don't really know it all?
Nessey: Carric - yes, and I am one such.
Nessey: P - looks at him with pity.
Nessey: Peter feels sorry for Carric's declining mental powers.
Nessey: P - says Caelesti seems like she might know it all.
Nessey: P - says Mavis looks pretty old, frankly.
Nessey: She is well into her old age twenties.
Nessey: Carric speaks up for Mavis and her prowess.
Nessey: Mavis says she used to feel the way Peter feels now.
Nessey: Nessey saddles up and goes for a ride.
Nessey: Mavis asks what happend with Silkhands and the King.
Nessey: What is his opinion.
Nessey: P - I can't tell what Jinian's talent is. She is impressive in a mysterious way. I have knows Silkhands for years. We go way back. We've had lots of adventures together in school town.
Nessey: She got this position in Vorbold's house and I went on to other things until this trip.
Nessey: P - I thought things would proceed naturally between me and Silkhands and now she is with the King, look, look.
Nessey: King and Silkhands are all but holding hands and chatting comfortably.
Nessey: P - the King is supposed to be with Jinian. But he seems not interested in her. I don't know what Jinian thinks, but what she thinks is important. Excuse me. I'll be off now. I was Festival-get, unknown father.
Nessey: Peter goes off.
Nessey: Yoshi broods over his mushroom tea.
Nessey: Carric, Mavis and Caelesti go back to Yoshi's table. Nessey is not there.
Nessey: Mavis says it was an interesting talk.
Nessey: Yoshi - what did you learn?
Nessey: Mavis recaps.
Nessey: Carric suggests Caelesti STOP mentioning her powers - since that could get her challenged to the death.
Nessey: Caelesti WANTS to get into a challenge and feels she could talk her way out of being killed.
Nessey: Carric - just don't. Find a match to watch.
Nessey: Fast forward.
Nessey: Next morning.
Nessey: Nessey goes back to her room after her horse ride.
Nessey: Next morning Nessey hisses to Caelesti - don't do that again, you embarrassed me. I'm not sitting next to you.
Nessey: Carric - I thought it was sexy.
Nessey: Car - My weasel... Well I better not say.
Nessey: King arrives wtih Silkhands in tow.
Nessey: King advises us on how to travel on our own to Xammer. He thanks us for our help and says he is heading in the other direction.
Nessey: Silkhands and Jinian and Peter are heading on north with us, says the King.
Nessey: Carric says it has been interesting.
Nessey: King thanks us again for our help.
Nessey: King says if he needs our help again, he will be in touch.
Nessey: Nessey asks if the King has ever been to Xammer. He says no, but his agents have.
Nessey: Carric asks Silkhands and Jinian for advice on a place to stay. Jinian gives the name of an Inn near Vorbold's house, says it is decent and trustworthy.
Nessey: Carric asks Jinian about Armiger Joumarie at Vorbold's house.
Nessey: Jinnian says she knows her well.
Nessey: Carric seeks an introduction from Jinian, an association he can speak of to ingratiate himself with Joumarie.
Nessey: Jinian speaks well of Xammer and Vorbold's house and allows the ingratiation and asks that we pass on her greetings to Joumarie.
Nessey: King heads off with Silkhands on his arm.
Nessey: Jinian and Peter shrug and follow King out.
Nessey: Everyone goes off to vegetables and bed in the north.
Nessey: We are on our own now and heading south.
Nessey: good breaking point.
