The pawns collect the gamesmen for dinner. Caelesti's pawns asked her where her missiles were, showing no obvious spear or bow to launch attacks from the air. She said she didn't carry weapons, and the pawn looked unimpressed. Caelesti said she used a different sort of missiles and fired off a volley of Magic Missiles. The pawn looked amazed and escorted her to the banquet.

The party's gamesmen were announced. They were then led to see the King. The king introduced himself as King Kevler of Dragon Fire's Purlieu and asked Carric where he was from and why he was here. Carric said that we were from Rowansmeade and friends of Brianna and Talon, and came here to meet them.

There was a gamesman next to the King who was dressed like Mavis, a demon. The demon whispered to the King. The King asked Carric how he knew Brianna and Talon. Carric said we met Talon in our homeland and Brianna on our travels. The King said that Brianna and Talon did not say that they were expecting anyone, but that they do welcome strangers.

The King then said he would like to speak to the others and looked at Caelesti. Caelesti introduced herself. He said she was dressed as an Armiger, but was clearly a very ununusual one. He asked if she had already taken service with a demesne. Caelesti said she didn't think so, but didn't know what that meant. The demon whispered to the King.

The King then addressed Mavis. He asked how her travels were and if they had any destination. She said that her travels were very interesting and that Carric wanted to go to Xammer.

The party is led to a table with other gamesmen. Next to Carric is a man with a magpie helmet. Across the table is a man with a tunic with a checkerboard pattern.

Carric said he was not from around here and asked about the others' outfits. One thought it was weird that Carric was a gamesman and didn't know about gamesman. He asked about Carric's school and Carric started making things up. The man in the magpie helmet was a Rancelman. Caelesti asked what that meant. After giving her some abuse, he said that he could find things that are lost.

Caelesti then asked the man in the checkerboard tunic what it stood for. The Rancelman said he didn't know why the king invited him because he is just a Flugelman.

After dinner, the party was led back to their quarters. The asked for their pawns, and Nessey and Yoshi were summoned from the kitchen.

Nessey's notes

Nessey: So some of us are safe eating well and sitting by the fire with the other Pawns.
Nessey: The rest of have just been costumed and introduced. Carric has an animal head, Pombi.
Nessey: Mavis has a half hood with horns.
Nessey: Caelesti has a black and rust costume.
Nessey: Pawn who comes to get them asks if they will carry her arms? Where is your spear and bow?
Nessey: Caelesti says she doesn't have them. He rolls his eyes and sighs.
Nessey: Caelesti says she has other Missiles and fires them around the room, makig sparks and scaring the poor Pawn Guy.
Nessey: Pawn collects Caelesti, Carric and Mavis
Nessey: Caelesti the Armiger
Nessey: Carric the Shifter
Nessey: Mavis the Demon
Nessey: Pawn Boy bring our pals to the door of the banquet hall and introduced each by name and title.
Nessey: Everyone looks over briefly and turns back to conversation.
Nessey: Some folks at the high table look curiously. From the table on the dias.
Nessey: They must be royalty of the castle.
Nessey: There are lower tables too.
Nessey: Man at high table says
Nessey: "I am King Kelver of Dragon's Fire Purlieu and I welcome you to my banquet"
Nessey: Carric to the King - It is an honor to meet you and to be here.
Nessey: King Kelver, So where are you from and where are you going?
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [7 + 8] = 15
Mavis rolls Mavis Will Save (d20 + 9): [8 + 9] = 17
Nessey: Carric - un, uh, ug, we are friends of Brianna and Talon and we know they came here and we wanted to follow them and meet up with them again.
Caelesti rolls Save (Will) (d20 + 3): [8 + 3] = 11
Nessey: Make a Will save.
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [20 + 8] = 28
Mavis rolls Mavis Will Save (d20 + 9): [15 + 9] = 24
Caelesti rolls Save (Will) (d20 + 3): [2 + 3] = 5
Nessey: The 3 of our friends are very, very impressed with the King, after their Will Save.
Nessey: A hooded man sitting next to the King makes Caelesti's mind tingle while gazing intently at her and her friends.
Nessey: They are "Outlanders"
Nessey: Man concentrates and frowns at Carric.
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [16 + 8] = 24
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [17 + 8] = 25
Nessey: Carric does not make eye contract with the hooded guy.
Nessey: He drums his fingers on the table and leans over to the King and whispers.
Nessey: After trying 3 times to penetrate Carric's supposed mind.
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [6 + 8] = 14
Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + : [16 + 8] = 24
Nessey: King says to Carric, we don't have many of your kind here and smiles at Carric. Carric smiles back. They smile at each other. Carric bows to him as King seems even more impressive now.
Nessey: Carric is thinking - Wow, this guy is a wonderful guy, he's just great and to have his banquet is really great.
Nessey: King asks how he knows Brianna and Talon.
Nessey: Carric - Talon is from our homeland and we met Brianna along the way.
Mavis rolls Mavis Will Save (d20 + 9): [12 + 9] = 21
Nessey: We met Brianna in our travels. They are our friends.
Nessey: King - that's interesting. They didn't tell us that.
Nessey: But no big deal. We are not too worried here - we WELCOME strangers.
Nessey: Carric - just to clarify - they may not know we are here either - we parted company on another continent.
Nessey: King - you are full of wild talk, Young Shifter.
Nessey: King - you here for our dinner. I mean, for dinner.
Nessey: Carric - are there some obvious places for us at the tables?
Nessey: Pawn server - When you are DISMISSED from talking to King, then I will seat you. He hisses at Carric, scandalized.
Nessey: Carric didn't SAY it he THOUGHT it loudly in his mind and looked around.
Nessey: The King asks to talk to others. Caelesti says, "Hi, I am Caelesti."
Nessey: I will type what ya'll are saying.
Nessey: So Carric repeats everything we say, like a Magpie.
Nessey: King says we have never seen anyone who looks like you around here, Miss Caelesti, have you taken service with any domain. You are very interesting looking.
Nessey: Caelesti - I don't believe I have. I don't know what that means.
Nessey: (It means you have sex with the King on demand.)
Nessey: King whispers to his friends at the table.
Nessey: King speaks to Mavis.
Nessey: He says, You are a demon, I understand. How have your travels gone?
Nessey: She smiles - very interesting. My companions are full of unexpected abilities and it is my favor to travel with them.
Nessey: King - are any of them affiliated?
Nessey: Mavis, no but Carric is trying to get to Xammer?
Nessey: King - Carric, you have no particular destination, but you are trying to get to Xammer, that makes no sense?
Nessey: Carric - no it makes sense because it is not particular, it just sounded interesting and we are footloose and fancy free.
Nessey: King - Interesting. I have arranged for a match with a young lady in Xammer. So I will be heading down that way.
Nessey: King - I believe the young lady will be heading this way as well. We will be meeting at Reavebridge.
Nessey: Perhaps he needs escort?
Nessey: Carric - that is a great coincindence.
Nessey: King - I would be greatful if you join my train to Reavebridge. Please join the banquet table for my honored guests.
Nessey: King is paying no attention to them anymore.
Nessey: Carric backs away respectfully, bowing and walking backwards at the same time.
Nessey: He bumps into a table and then sits down.
Nessey: The others walk frontwards.
Nessey: Carric's butt is shown to a table.
Nessey: Carrics - whispers to his pals, that was close, I was worried they were going to challenge us to something right here. Thank you for reminding me about Xammer.
Nessey: Mavis - King thinks you are stalkers of Brianna and Talon now, perhaps?
Nessey: Carric - I am not always good at talking to Kings. And I don't know what spoon to use.
Nessey: Carric - I say the truth when I can remember it in order to consistent.
Nessey: Carric - Did you notice what a great guy that King is? He is really something! I really adore him.
Nessey: Mavis - yes, he is impressive indeed.
Nessey: The food looks good and there is a lot of it.
Nessey: They are part of another table wiht other people/
Nessey: At that table there are:
Nessey: what other outfits?
Nessey: Next to Carric is a man in gold, push back is a helmet in shape of Magpie.
Nessey: Across the way is man with tunic in red and white squares
Nessey: He has ribbons around his neck and over his chest.
Nessey: Red ribbons
Nessey: You have the 3 bottom seats on one side.
Nessey: Carric turns to the Magpie guy and asks what sort of outfit that is?
Carric: Rancelman
Nessey: And he went to school in schooltow.
Nessey: And Carric made up a bunch of stuff and claims to know Rancelman went to a good school.
Nessey: Carric said he spent a lot of time in the Wilderness.
Nessey: Caelest asks what Rancelman means.
Nessey: Caelesti says she only found out today that Armiger means she can fly.
Nessey: Rancelman guy is alarmed.
Nessey: Carric says we come from far away and doesn't have same outfits and labels.
Nessey: Rancelman guy says he finds things that are lost.
Nessey: Carric - if you think of someting that is lost, can you see where it is?
Nessey: Rancel Guy - Says he's not as powerful as a Seer, but concentrates and sometimes (Augury?) has some seeing and some reading. He might be part Demon and part Seer, multiclass.
Nessey: Checkerboard guy is just a Flugerman. He has a little bit and of this and that, nothing powerful. Rancel thinks he should not have been invited.
Nessey: He is not much more powerful than a Pawn.
Nessey: He has a little beguilement and little bit of firestarter. He is popular because he has a little bit of begilement, but not like that of Kings. He is probably here because he is someone's cousin.
Nessey: Carric compliments Rancel's costume.
Nessey: Rancel says Carric is doomed to be mistrusted.
Nessey: Rancel says you don't choose your costume. It is chosen for you based on your talent.
Nessey: Rancel says Carric is doomed.
Nessey: Rancel says most shifters are very clever, but you are not clever at all..
Nessey: Carric, yes.
Nessey: Talkig about the Great Games. Apparently Shifter is one of the major talents. Like to get into the thick of things and sometimes get killed.
Nessey: Caelesti - are Games always to the Death.
Nessey: Rancel - I always thought Shifters were clever and surreptitious and sneaky and underhanded and here you are as gullible and clueless as everyone else. You have changed my mind about Shifters.
