Nessey spoke on the side with Mavis. Nessey was concerned that her fiancée, Wolfy, needed to know that she was still alive. She wanted to go and visit, but Mavis reminded her that her Queen said to avoid the barbarians and to deliver the staff. Nessey then thought of sending a message via homing horse, or an otter. She left to speak with Carric to see if he could send an otter.

In the morning, after Nessey's goodbyes to the Amazons, the party headed west.

Early in the journey, Caelesti presented Nessey with the buckler and rapier that she had saved for Nessey, having recovered them during an adventure while waiting for the northern snows to melt before being able to begin Nessey's rescue mission.

During the journey, Yoshi stayed a bit ahead in order to scout. The first week was uneventful.

Tracks were found on a later day. The tracks consisted of horse tracks and large human-like footprints. Both sets of tracks headed west. The party followed, since they needed to head west anyway.

Sometime later, the party ran across a centaur, and then a few more. Carric explained that the party had seen since of a skirmish and followed the tracks to see if anybody needed help. The centaurs said that a father and son from their tribe had disappeared and they went to investigate. They followed the tracks to a homestead on a hill that they had trouble climbing. The centaur father's butchered body was found near it, and the son's tracks headed up to it. The party offered to help, and the centaurs were happy to have it.

The party looked upon the hill with the palisade wall. They could see a taller building within, but no guards. Carric cast Bull's Strength on Yoshi. Caelesti cast Magic Armor on herself and Message on everyone. The party advanced across the field and up the hill to the palisade gate. Several people peeked through gaps in the palisade to see two buildings, but no figures.

The gate was barred. Caelesti peeked through a hole and translocated to the other side. Yoshi did the same. The bar was too high for Caelesti to reach, so Yoshi worked the heavy bar off by himself.

The rest of the party entered the complex. They all headed first to the small building. The small room contained cured meat hanging from the ceiling, and the young centaur lying unconscious on the ground. Carric cast a cure on the centaur.

Mavis moved to the side.
Caelesti cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter on the ogre, but it was not amused.
Talon started singing.
Yoshi moved a bit closer.
Nessey drew two swords.
The ogre charged Yoshi, striking him with his great club.
Carric started casting a summoning spell.
Another ogre appeared at the door.

Mavis moved to flank the ogre on Yoshi. Both ogres swung at her as she approached, but missed her. Mavis back-stabbed the flanked ogre.
Caelesti cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter on the second ogre, but it was also not amused.
Yoshi, in a flurry of blows, struck the ogre (xx).
Nessey engaged the ogre, dropping it with her first strike. She stabbed it again for good measure.
The other ogre struck Mavis with a heavy blow.
Carric's summoned lion appeared and leapt at the ogre, the ogre struck it in midair, but the lion attacked back (oxxxx).
Mavis then cast a cure on Mavis.
Another ogre appeared at the door.

Mavis struck the ogre that smacked her, dropping it with a sneaky shot. She then swung at the next ogre. Caelesti tried Tasha's on the third ogre. The ogre dropped to the ground in fits of laughter.
Yoshi moved to flank the prone laughing ogre, hitting it.
Nessey advanced on the ogre, struck it, and it laughed no more.
The lion moved into the large building, but found nothing to attack.
Carric delayed.
An ogre magi floating 10' off the ground, turned visible while casting a Cone of Cold out the door. The spell hit Nessey, Carric, and Caelesti; Mavis and Yoshi dodged the effect.

Mavis dropped her sword and drew her bow. She shot an arrow into the flying ogre magi.
Caelesti cast Tasha's on the ogre magi, unsuccessfully. She then moved to take cover from the building.
Yoshi moved to Talon and requested the flying potion that she had offered the centaurs.
Nessey pulled out her bow and also shot an arrow into the ogre magi.
Talon handed pulled out the Fly potion and handed it to Yoshi.
The lion could not reach the ogre magi.
Carric, using his magic gloves, cast Magic Missiles at the ogre magi, but its spell resistance protected it.
The ogre magi turned invisible.

Caelesti moved into the small building and asked Talon for a cure.
Yoshi quaffed the Fly potion.
Talon cast a cure on Caelesti.
Carric started casting another summoning spell.
The ogre magi attacked Carric in order to interrupt his spell, but missed.
Mavis shot the ogre magi (xo).
Nessey also shot the ogre magi.

Caelesti moved out of the building and cast Magic Missiles at the ogre magi, but also did not affect it.
Yoshi translocated next to the hovering ogre magi and struck it (ox).
Carric's summoned giant eagle appeared next to the ogre magi and clawed it (xoo).
Carric again cast Magic Missiles at the ogre magi, affecting it.
The ogre magi moved a bit and turned invisible.

Yoshi moved next to the ogre magi and attacked blindly (xo).
Talon resumed singing.
Carric pulled out a Wand of Cure Light Wounds and cast one on himself.
Caelesti cast Detect Magic and started searching the area for the invisible ogre magi. She reported that the ogre mage wasn't where it was last seen.
Talon and Carric also cast Detect Magic and started scanning the area.

The ogre magi seemed to have moved off. Yoshi suggested burning the buildings and the palisade. Carric said he wanted to look for magic in the buildings first. Caelesti stayed with Yoshi, continuing to search for the ogre magi. The searchers found a chest with 900gp, a golden comb in the form of a dragon, a pair of magic rings, a coral saucer, and a potion.

The party lit the buildings and wall on fire. Before going down the hill, Carric warned the centaur that his dad "didn't make it". While the party milled about, the ogre magi started shooting arrows at the party. The party fled for the woods.
