Caelesti's notes

Log

Carric suggested that the party should get a map of the barbarian lands. Carric, Talon, and Caelesti headed off first to see Connor, the potion maker. After greeting the party, Connor commented on how pleased he was that the party changed their minds about selling the book to him. When asked, he said that Nessey had returned 8 days after the party had been there and sold the book. Caelesti was shocked that Nessey would do such a thing. Caelesti continued to question things that they were told. "Maybe Nessey was lying about being sold into slavery. Maybe she just tried to get the party arrested so that she could get away with stealing the book."

Connor then admitted that the book had been stolen a couple of days earlier. He offered the party 1000 gp for its return. Though queried, he would not divulge the names of anyone he had contacted about the book, though he did show the party how the book was stolen. A thief had apparently broken in through a second story window and had only stolen the book. The party looked at the window and determined that a large rat had gnawed on it. Carric was able to detect tracks from booted feet heading toward the wall and leaving the wall. Carric followed the tracks until they entered the sewers. Talon refused to enter the sewers. Caelesti and Carric were willing, but Carric knew there would be no tracks to follow. The party decided that they should get a map of the sewers as well as one of the barbarian lands.

The next stop was the monastery. Carric asked to see Master Galen. After a long wait, the party was ushered to see him.

After greetings, Carric filled Galen in on the news about the book. Galen sent for the monk who turned the book over to Nessey. The monk, Brother Ryan, said that Nessey showed up with a note from Corum Trimble stating that the book was to be turned over to any member of the Weapons of Good possessing the note. It looked official, and Nessey was a member of the group, so he turned over the book. Carric had argued that it could have been someone disguised as Nessey, but Ryan said it was her - it looked and sounded like her.

The party had never before seen the note that Nessey turned over for the book. Since the document was signed by a priest of Núadu, the party went to the temple to question the priest. After expounding some interesting confessions, the party learned that Father Corey had witnessed Corum Trimble's signature.

The party returned to the Silver Harp Inn, finding Siobhan with Gareth and Mavis. Gareth had heard of the party's plans to head into the barbarian lands and made a proposal. He said that he would supply trinkets for the party to trade with the barbarians, and they would split the profits. Carric seemed to be leery of the two, and was being somewhat standoffish. With misgivings over the party's sales abilities, the final offer from Gareth was to have Mavis join the party as 'salesperson', while the party 'escorted' her. With the understanding that 'sales' did not determine where the party would travel, the party said that they would consider the offer.

In the meantime, Talon had moved away from the group and cast detect thoughts (within the inn - musically casting the spell song). She began concentrating on those in the area of the party. She 'read' that Carric was distrusting, Mavis didn't want to go away from Gareth, Siobhan was upset over Carric's coldness, and nothing from Gareth or Caelesti.

The party retired for the night, discussing the offer and Talon's 'insight'.

The next day, the party woke up late. When they arrived down into the dining area, they found Mavis sitting by herself. The group discussed their feelings of the joint venture in the distant spring, and decided to spend time together as a trial of compatibility. Mavis, being a city person, had contacts and would join/help the party on their current city task.

Talon's notes

Futhark said rhunes are close to MindFlayers script
Valley of Bridges, fatal land far to West past Barbarian lands
Fabled, fatal, very dangerous

Talon: Have we done an augury of Nessey lately?

Talon to Carric: we should ask for money from Nessey's parents to buy trinkets to pose as traders

Caelesti: I don't feel good about asking Nessey's parents for anything. They are already upset with us for losing Nessey.

Car : Yeah. Carric: Yeah, we lost Nessey.

Talon: don't say we, I had nothing to do with that

Carric - oh, right

Talon: BtW, Car, theoretically, would you mind if I got a spell and read your mind? I want to reasure myself that you are not a slave trader after all I have heard. I don't want to be fooled and solf into slavery once we get over into Barbarian country

Carric, I DO - MIND - and you be reassured by now, right Caelesti, you can vouch for my purity?

Cae: Well....

Carric: My trustworthiness?

Cae: Well...

Car: I mean, I haven't enslaved you yet, Caelesti, have I?

Caelesti, That's right, Talon, he hasn't enslaved me.

Carric and Caelesti debate going to Connar's shop and asking about a map of Barbarian Territory.

We decide to go.

Connar is happy to see us, hasn't seen us in 3 months. Mentions that young Nessey came and sold the evil magic book to him about 3 months ago. Glad you changed your minds.

Carric, what? what?

Connar, she came and sold me the book and I handed over the money. Talon: Carric, but we left the book at the monestary....

Carric: when was that?

Connar: a couple days after you came in her last

Carric: she disappeared the day after?

Connar - she showed up here August 16th, 9 days later. Then two days ago somebody broke into my shop and stole that same book.

Talon: That's not good. You (Car and Cae) told me that was a pretty evil and dangerous book - in the wrong hands!!

Connar: well Nessey seemed pretty sure you all had changed your minds.

Caelesti: perhaps Nessey went into hiding and wasn't captured right away.

Carric: according to her parents scrying story - they spoke to Nessey and Nessey said she was kidnapped and thrown into a rug.

Caelesti: Yeah, well Nessey could have said anything! Made up any story, especially is she was going behind OUR backs and wanted to sell it and we didn't.. and then she went and did it anyway.

Carric: Well, we should ask the monestary how Nessey got the book from them.

Talon; You think your friend was evil?

Caelesti: She didn't seem like she was, but she might have been really clever.

Carric: it could be she decided to sell the book and when we see her later she will give us her share... that she thought it was proper

Talon: Don't you think that if she's a Barbarian slave - she wouldn't have any money left of her own?

Caelesti: perhaps the Barbarians are a cover...? Her hide-out.

Caric: Do we know when Nessey's parents scryed with her?

Talon: maybe you ask them and scry again with Nessey to find out more

Caelesti: What good would that do?

Talon: Well, you seem to know her, mabe she would explain to you.

Caelesti: Or maybe she'd tell us more lies - maybe she made it all up to get us in trouble and get us arrested.

Carric: This is all very interesting... So, Connar, we are interested in a map of Barbarian lands...yeah, to the West and as far as their lands extend.

Connar: well, yes, there is map-maker...

Talon: aren't you guys at all concerned that this very evil book has been stolen?

Connar, I'm concerned, very concerned. I paid 5,000gp for that book and I'll pay you 1,000 if you can get it back for me.

Carric: "How was it stolen?"

Connar: it was stolen from my backroom, would you like me to show you?

Carric and Talon: yes!

Connor takes us into his private areas to backroom upstairs where a window casing has been broken and there is a back alley.

Caelesti wants to try to climb down. She tests it, yes, it could be done.

Carric rolls Kno Nature (d20 + 11): [1 + 11] = 12
Carric does knowledge natures for marks around the window frame. Talon rolls K - Nature - T (d20 + 9): [1 + 9] = 10
Talon rolls K -Dungeons -M (d20 + 11): [18 + 11] = 29
Talon with Dungeoneering says it doesn't look like tools.

Caelesti looks at it and says it looks like someone chewed the window frame with teeth, like a rat, like a wear-rat, like Caelesti's Dire Rat friend.

Cae to Con - who were you trying to sell the book to?

Connar - an interested party
Talon: Carric' their name didn't happen to be Kieran?
Talon: Connar - Young Caelesti, you are not really trying to pry into my business dealings, are you? after all your companion sold the book to us.
Talon: Caelesti: well it would help to know who knew you had the book, but if we can't find it, we can't find it.
Carric rolls Track (d20 + 15): [9 + 15] = 24
Talon: We go into alley for Carric to attempt some tracking.
Talon: Actually we start in the house and then procede to alley
Talon: Talon: Carric, can dire rats do magic?
Talon: Carric, not to my knowledge.
Talon: Talon: then what would a dire rat want with the book?
Talon: Caelesti: perhaps the rat was being controlled by someone
Talon: Carric: perhaps
Talon: Carric discerns that one creature came in and was wearing normal sized boots.
Carric rolls Track (d20 + 15): [7 + 15] = 22
Talon: Then Carric looks in the alley
Talon: Carric finds booted tracks coming up and going away.
Talon: Talon asks why dire rat would wear boots.
Talon: Carric, I don't think it's a dire rate, I think it's a wear rat.
Talon: Tracks lead to sewer grate and stops.
Talon: Carric: let's follow
Talon: Me: You want me to go down there - are you crazy??
Talon: Are you kidding?
Talon: Car: I kid you not.
Talon: Caelesti: I'll go.
Talon: Me: I won't.
Talon: Carric: I think we will need your help.
Talon: Me; No way.
Talon: Carric: we'll track it.
Carric rolls Save/Fortitude (d20 + 5): [13 + 5] = 18
Talon: Connar: unless there is running water and then you will not be able to track it like you expect.
Talon: Carric, I'll see. He opens the grate. A waft of reeking air comes out, but Carric does not pass out.
Talon: It looks as one might expect - flowing water "and other substances."
Talon: Me; I am NOT going down there.
Talon: Carric, "ah, maybe we should go down there for fun anyway."
Talon: I ignore this.
Talon: Carric... welll...okay.
Talon: Connar: you don't have to take care it now, but I would sure appreciate it if you helped me get that book back.
Talon: Carric: Con, do you know of any creatures who hang out down there?
Talon: Connar, I don't think much about the sewers myself. I mean I'm happy our city has them. But I dont go down there myself. Outlaws sometimes do.
Talon: Connar, so someone has stolen my book and taken it down into the sewers. I don't like that. I don't like it at all!
Talon: Locate Object scroll is 150gp and range is only 520 feet unless, Talon, you or Caelesti know that spell.
Talon: Connar - how about you, would you go under the sewers for 150gp
Talon: Me: Nope! But I wouldn't go in the sewers for 1,000 gp.
Talon: Connar, well, maybe you need to go do some more investigating, maybe get a map of the sewers
Talon: Carric: yeah, surf and turf map package - Sewers Map and Barbarian Map
Talon: Talon: Carric, could you turn yourself into a rat?
Talon: Carric: well...
Talon: Talon: if you could turn into a rat, then you could follow the scent trail of the other rat - cause rats leave scent trails.
Car: are you calling me a dirty rat?
Talon: Well, you will be when you get out of the sewer.
Car: will you still love me?
Talon: as much as I do now.
Car: well, that's an incentive.
Car: However, though I can turn into a Dire Rat, I will have only same nose ability I have now.
Car: I think we should stop at monestary first and try to find out what happend.
Talon: perhaps it's related.
Car: perhaps Nessey talked about it lot after getting 5K and someone overhead.
Talon: We go to monestary
Talon: Knob, the apprentice opens the door to us
Talon: We are outside of Rowansmead, looking for Father Brendon perhaps
Talon: Actually we ask for Master Galen. Does he have a moment for us (going straight to the top) as Carric thinks we gave the book to him directly.
Talon: We are shown into his office after a short wait.
Talon: Offers us seats on matts on the floor.
Carric - thank you for seeing us on short notice
Galen: How can I help you?
Carric, remember that spellbook we gave you for safe keeping? We heard that on aug 16th, 9 days after we departed, the spellbook we gave you in keeping, was sold by Nessey (or a person who looked like her).
Galen: Interesting. I will summon our archivist.
Caelesti: What do you mean "someone who looked like Nessey?"
Car: Connar had only seen us once before and there are people who look like other people and disguise themselves and after all Connar will be focused on the book.
Talon: In comes Brother Ryan.
Talon: Carric explains to Ryan.
Ryan: oh yes we handed it over to Nessey when she ... well if I recall you had said you weren't sure you really owned book... Nessey showed up and handed us a document and we handed her the book, on Aug 15th, and she went off with it.
Caelesti: you are sure it was her
DM: "In gratitude for services rendered, I, Corum Trimble, grant to the Weapons of Good the book they retrieved from my cellar while rendering said services: the Arcane Workbook of Herminicus the Necromancer. Please deliver this book to any member of the Weapons of Good who bears this note."
Ryan - she said you had found the document in the basement of Corrim Timbles House. Show us:
Talon: And so she handed over document and it agreed with the story of Corrim Timble and since it was signed by a Priest at the Temple of Nuadu.
Talon: we thought it was okay.
Talon: (this being the monestary of Nuadu)
Talon: Carric, same as Talon's question: and which priest is that?
Talon: Ryan: one you don't know
Talon: Father Corey
Talon: R: I think we followed the law here.
Carric, we are not putting blame and if there is any blame if belongs to Nessey.
Caelesti: ah-hah! Nessey again!
Carric: it is not clear that the book belonged to Corrim. There was a Necromancy who lived in that house years before and disappeared, suspiciously or not. Though, of course, if is sort of mysterious to disappear. Though, of course, I don't blame the Monstestary of Nuado for that.
Carric - it is not good for any member of the Weapons of Good to run off with party funds.
Talon: well, they weren't party funds if the book didn't belong to you.
Ryan: but the letter says the book did.
Carric, well, any member who runs off ... well that's not good.
Talon: We go to temple and ask to meet Father Corey and are introduced to very old geezer who have not met before.
Talon: Geezer Corey wants us to confess, leads Talon away to confess in private.
Talon: Me: I had a sexual experience with a woman and I think I might in love, do you think that's bad?
Talon: Geezer: there's certainly nothing wrong or evil or unlawful about that-- what are you concerned about.
Talon: About unlawful or evil?
Talon: Evil, of couse?
Talon: Geez: No, love is not evil!
Talon: If she took advantage of you, that would be evil and she should confess.
Talon: Oh, no, she was great especially in bed, but much older and more experienced than I. Talon: Well, her name was Brianna, do you know of her?
Talon: G: No, I don't get out of the temple much.
Talon: Well, I have only one more confession. I sometimes have mischieveous thoughts about a companion of mine, Carric. I imagine him falling in the mud or getting attacked by critters or other embarrassing things.
Talon: Geez: Do you act on these feelings?
Talon: Talon: Well, no, but perhaps it is evil of me to think it. Do you have a penance for me?
Talon: Geez: We have penance only for those who have sinned in deed. Do not fret about your mischievous thoughts, my daughter, though it would be best if you did not have such thoughts.
Talon: Well, thank you Father. I will send Carric in next. He has quite a lot of sexual sins to confess!
Talon: Fr. Corey calls in Carric.
Talon: Fr C: Come and confess, Carric, I hear you have many sins... plase give me ALL the details of your sexual sins. I don't get out much.
Talon: Car: Well, it all started back in August with Father Galen...
Talon: Fr Corey gets out a notebook, :"AH I suspected as much! Suspected goings on in that monestary for a long, long time!" His eyes alight with interest.
Talon: Car: Well, I left him with an evil spell book and....
Talon: Fr C: Ah-hah! I didn't know Father Galen casted spells!
Talon: Car: well I left him the book and then you signed a letter and perhaps saw Corrim Timble?
Talon: Fr C: yes, he looked like XXX and had proper papers.
DM: "Short, ruddy, reddish mustache, blue eyes, floppy hat."
Talon: Car: I think he is running a kidnapping ring and smuggling young ladies.
Talon: Fr C: but what have you to confess?
Talon: Car: I confess that many young ladies are after me, espeically that one who was just hear, and I've had to beat her off with a stick and she has become bitter and involved with others. Do you think I should do pennance with her?
Talon: Fr C: No, you should pray to your god and we should pray for you here in temple of Nuadu, for 20 gp,
Talon: Car: I will think on that and pray to my druid deity.
Talon: Fr C: Carric, young man, you have NOT come here in the proper state of contrition. You think about that and send in the other lady.
Talon: Carric goes and out and talks to Caelesti and I and saws it was Corrim Trimble who came in.
Talon: Talon encourages Caelesti to go in and talk to Fr C.
Talon: Tells her to describe Nessey and see if he recognizes the description.
Talon: Carric: just speaking to a sex depraved, I mean deprived, doesn't necessarily get us anywhere, so you do don't have to talk to him, Caelesti.
Talon: Talon suggests Fr Corey might know about the sewers, but Carric doesn't think so, wants to go back to the Inn and spend the night.
Talon: Carric wants to ask at the Inn if they know of anyone who hangs out in the sewers?
Talon: at the Silver Harp? We bards do NOT hang out in sewers!! You would have to go to a much sleeszier bar for that.
Talon: Go back to common room of Silver Harp, see friend Siobhan, chatting with two other friends -
Siobhan: Gareth and Mavis
Talon: friends of hers?!!
Talon: Carric recalls having seen Timble in Corrim's house and having introduced us to Corrim.
Siobhan: Gareth = 6' tall, lean, craggy weathered face, black eyes and beard, brown clothing, green cloak, cap, soft leather boots, staff.
Siobhan: Mavis = 5' tall, fox-like face, gray eyes, brown hair tied back, studded leather armor, soft leather boots, rapier.
Talon: Currently wearing a very finely made chain shirt - mithral shirt.
Talon: Siobhan sees us and smiles and waves. Gareth sees us and smiles and waves. Mavis looks into Carric intently.
Talon: Carric goes over.
Car: last time we saw you - you were in Medowbrook.
Gar: that was months ago. We've been out east since then and now are back for the winter.
Car How long in town?
Gar: Just got in. We always stay here. All the most interesting people stay here, don't you think?
Talon: Where have you been?
Talon: Carric, well, we...
Talon: Me: Carric, Carric!
Talon: Car: Ah, I have not introduced you.
Talon: Siobhan, Siobhan, I should have introduced you, this is my cousin, Talon.
Gar, what have you been up to? Talon: Car: traveling up north.
Talon: Gar: where's your other friend?
Talon: Me: who?
Talon: A young lady they were traveling with last time.
Talon: Car: we haven't seen her in a while.
Talon: Cae: well, it's a bit of a mystery
Talon: Pray do tell?
Talon: Car: there's not much to tell. We haven't seen her in a while.
DM: Gareth was very interested in your plans to travel into Barbarian territory.
Gareth, you can make a pretty penny trading with the Barbarians, bring lots of trinkets. You can make good money taking what is cheap and unappreciated here and selling it where it is expensive and appreciated. In fact, I'd be willing to set you up, for a share of the profits, because I like you and feel I owe you, and you can have a franchise in my business. Do you have any trading experience?
Carric, oh, interesting, but I've only traded herbs with other druids, not for profit, but for mutual ah - whatever. I don't want to trade with someone and get the better of the deal. But if you say these items might be rare and desirable up there then it might work out.
Caelesti: and if you can tell us a fair price to ask.
Car: what do the Barbarians have plenty of that you would want -
Gar: you would get trinkets from them that would sell for 3 times the value back here.
Car: well if we knew that and if we could multiply by three and ....
Gareth - shush, shush, stop talking for a while.
Talon: Talon leaves table to get a drink at the bar
Talon: Mavis glares at Carric.
Talon: Talon conjuring
Talon: Detect Thoughts on Gareth while out of eye sight, but within range
Siobhan rolls d20: [11] = 11
Talon: Cone Carric rolls Save/Will (d20 + 7): [6 + 7] = 13
Talon: everyone in cone make will save except Caelesti
Talon: I detect thoughts in Carric, but not Gareth
Siobhan rolls Mavis Will Save (d20 + 9): [1 + 9] = 10
Siobhan rolls Gareth Will Save (d20 + 7): [13 + 7] = 20
Talon: I detect thoughts in Mavis
Talon: Gareth is whispering to Mavis.
Talon: Siobhan?
Talon: Bartender? thoughts?
Talon: okay Siobhan rolls Siobhan Will Save (d20 + 6): [5 + 6] = 11
Talon: not bartender, cause I'm at the bar Talon: Siobhan has thoughts
Talon: number of thinking minds and the INT score of each, p 220
Talon: one INT 12 and two INT 14s. Both fairly lower than mine.
Talon: Back up - Gareth has thoughts too. There are total INTs of (Gareth, Siobhan, Carric and Mavis) could 12s that couple 14s don't know whose)
Talon: In next round, since I can see, can tell Carric and Mavis are the 14 INTs and Gareth and Siobhan are 12s.
Talon: Surface thoughts: Carric is suspicious of Gareth and Mavis.
Talon: Gareth, no surface thoughts.
Talon: Siobhan is thinking - surprised her friends are being so cold to these nice people
Talon: Mavis: is listening to Gareth and feeling affection towards him, but doubt as to what he is suggesting to her.
Talon: Her surface throughts (Mavis) "I don't really feel like leaving you."
Talon: Back to their discussion.
Talon: I return to the table with a glass of mead.
Talon: Mavis shrugs and nods.
Gareth turns back to Carric and says, Well, as I said, I feel like I owe you and therefore I'm going to propose somethign which i think can benefit all of us, but especially you.
Gareth: If you are interested in going to the Barbarians and posing as traders you are not going to make it based on what you've said about your experience as traders, you are not going to make a profit, but I am willing to give you a stake since I am feeling benevolent and also it is an opportunity. If i gave you 5K worth of trade goods, you could come back with 15K, if you did the trading right, which your probably won't given what Carric said. But I'm will to state 5K gp assuming that, oh, Mavis goes along with you to manage it for you. If she goes with you, she can triple your money and goods and you can have half the profits.
Talon: Caelesti, isn't there danger to her (Mavis) to come along?
Talon: Carric: there's Barbarians - that's danger. What is our boat capsizes and all our goods are lost, are you assuming the risk or are we on the hook? We might be attacked by bandits. all the goods might be lost by accident or evil doers.
Talon: 5K is a tremendous amout of money, I don't know if we can take that risk.
Talon: Mavis, you are far less likely to lose by bandits if I am with you, than if you are by yourself.
Talon: Caelesti, "She is doing selling and trading and we are protecting her the best we can?"
Talon: Gar- yes if you want to look at it that way, And you get half - more generous than one might expect but I am feeling benevolent.
Talon: Caelesti: We have to be free to travel
Talon: Gar - we don't know more or less profitable areas, but we do know how to make a profit
Talon: Cae: our primary goal is to find our friend
Talon: Me: I thought we were looking for the valley of the Bridgers.
Talon: Cae: Not first thing.
Talon: Gar "what is that?"
Talon: It is a mythical place that is supposed to be on the other side of Barbarian lands. As a Bard, I am very interested in tthat.
Talon: Car, we will think about your offier
Talon: Gar, of course, with winter coming on, now is not the time to travel in Barbarian lands.
Talon: Cae: sounds like a good deal.
Talon: Car: We will sleep on it.
Talon: Car, it's too cold up there now, or will be soon
Talon: Gar, the Barbs from what I have heard, tend to retreat into sheltered valleys in the West to camp out during the winter. If you are looking for a particular group, you have to find where they winter, over tundra and deadly cold.
Talon: Winter would come on if you left now
Talon: it would be far more dangerous and unprofitable.
Talon: Talon: let's go back to our rooms and have a nice rest, it's been a busy day
Talon: Cae: rest or excitement.
Talon: Car: or both.
Talon: Gar: well, we'll be around. I may want to go East and get more goods, if you are interested in taking up my offer, so let me now.
Talon: Let's talk again tomorrow.
Talon: Carric yawns loudly.
Talon: We gather as a party in our rooms.
Talon: Caelesti, well it is the perfect cover. It's exactly what we were told to do.
Talon: Car: I'm suspicious. When we met them in Meadowbrook, Gar knew Corrum Trimble and thought he was a great guy
Talon: and he's the one who introduced us to Corrim and now Corrim seems to be involved in the kidnapping group and Corrim signed that letter.
Talon: Cae: it's easy to be duped. Maybe he was duped by Nessey like us.
Talon: Car: yes, but the guy who left with the rug was not Gareth or Corrim , but he left Corrim's house, so I think Corrim is a shady character and maybe a kidnapper.
Talon: Caelesti: You think?
Talon: Carric, Yes, I do. I'm just not sure about this set up. She probably would help with our negotiation, but his association... basically anyone with association with Corrim is suspect.
Talon: Car - what do you think, Caelesti?
Talon: I think Mavis is okay.
Talon: Car: what do you think, Talon?
Talon: Talon, I have the intuition that Mavis loves Gareth very much and doesn't want to be separated from him and that he is coercing her to go with us.
Talon: Car: you mean for profit?
alon: Talon: Yes, putting profit before love.
Talon: Cae: I didn't get that at all.
Talon: Talon, I have the very strong impression, being recently in love myself, that Mavis does not want to be separated from Gareth, but is afraid to say so, to go against him.
Talon: Car, well, your love feelings for me aside, Talon, Mavis might like Barbarian types and it might be doing her a favor to get her away from Gareth.
Talon: They might be leading us into a trap with Corrim.
Talon: Car, it seems unlikely that any of us would be of value to kidnappers. I mean, Nessey's family had money. As far as I know none of our families have any money whatsoever.
Talon: But she wasn't ransomed. She was sold into slavery. Don't you think Caelesti and I are beautiful and desireable women whom the Barbarians would want? Are you insulting us?
Talon: No, you are beautiful and so am I, Barbarians might want me!
Talon: Yes, for your pert butt. Right.
Talon: Car: But we don't knowif she was sold into slavery. She might be a troubled woman who wanted to get away from her parents.
Talon: Talon, But she got away with you.
Talon: Car, but why sell her into slavery when you can get a lot more money ransoming her?
Talon: Me: that is a very good question. Talon: Cael: I'm in favor of it.
Talon: Talon: I'm against.
Talon: Car," Well, I'm sort of in the middle... er how attractive is Mavis? I mean she is the quiet type."
Talon: Talon: she doesn't look at you like she likes you.
Talon: Car, out in the woods, she might come around.
Talon: She is attractive, but she is sooo withdrawn that you don't notice it, says the DM.. Nor nearly the level of Talon or Caelesti or Siobhan.
Talon: Well, Car says, I will think on that.
Talon: We sleep on it.
Talon: We go down to common room the next morning and (I need to move out of my mother in laws bedroom)
Talon: or not yet, as the case might be.
Talon: We go into the common room and see Mavis sitting by herself having breakfast.
Talon: Car makes the moves on Mavis, "Is Gareth not up yet?"
Talon: Mav: "Oh, he's out. I thinnk you guys are the late ones."
Talon: Car: I wanted to make sure you are enthusiastic about this. What are your thoughts?
Talon: Mav: at heart, I am a city girl. Traveling with Gareth, I'm on the road a lot. Traveling in Barbarian lands is a gamble. I can handle it. Do I like this idea, well...
Talon: Me: Come on Mavis, you can tell us, girl to girl, you seem to really be in love with Gareth.
Talon: Mav, well, I mean, if Gareth wants me to do this...
Talon: Me: But, Mavis, you are not his SLAVE!
Talon: Mavis, "Talon, you are exactly right, I am not his slave, so I do not have to do what he wants, but I do not have to run my whole life around him."
Talon: Me: maybe you should not be running off on his little errands, maybe you think about what YOU want in life.
Talon: Mavis, well, maybe I should broaden my friendships in any case. What are you doing for the next few months?
Talon: Cae: we need to find some maps.
Talon: Car: I think we will be in and around this area until the weather breaks.
Talon: Cae: if we find someone who needs help, then we like to help.
Talon: Talon: do you know of anyone who needs help, Mavis?
Talon: Mavis, "do you?"
Talon: Car, "Do you know anything about the sewers."
Talon: Talon, "yeah, someone mentioned to us that there might be bandits hanging out in the sewers and we thought we ought to investigate that"
Talon: Mav: You think I might know about bandits?
Talon: Car and Cae: well as a city girl you might know about things around her, we are country folk.
Talon: mav - you are not in the guild, are you?
Talon: Talon, "What guild?"
Talon: Mav: Yhou have answered my question. My, you are innocent.
Talon: Cae, well, some of the things we do get dangerous, can you protect yourself?
Talon: She studies each of us.
Talon: Mav, I believe I could hold my own against any of you if it came to that. We are both being circumspect here. You need to talk to people and don't know how and I just might have the skills and contacts you need. Talon: But we don't really know each other, do we?
Talon: Talon, no we don't.
Talon: Caelesti, let's spend the day together.
Talon: mav, yes let's do that and see what we think of each other.
Talon: Talon:let's do that.
Talon: Cael : certainly if we don't get along then a month together in barbarian wilderness would not work out for us.
Talon: Mav: my feelings exactly
Talon: Talon: how long have you known Siobhan.
Talon: Mav: I just met here with Gareth though have seen her once or twice on the road. She has been performing in various Inns that Gareth and I go to. We recognize and appreciate her as a good performer. But we have not talked to her before last night.
Talon: Talon, Well, I think Siobhan is a wonderful person and she is my cousin and she seems to think you are alright. So I will hang out with you today.
Talon: Carric, hear, Hear.
