Caelesti's notes

Log

Talon and Carric recalled stories of snake-people called yuan-ti. The yuan-ti were highly intelligent, highly evil creatures, known for bloody sacrifices. Talon wanted to deal with the evil yuan-ti, perhaps give them something to sacrifice. Carric suggested keeping our story as close as possible to the truth, as the yuan-ti, being intelligent, might catch us in lie. Caelesti didn't really want to deal with them at all, but perhaps sneak in and look for the facet.

The party spent some time dividing loot from the dragons and hiding some it, not wanting to risk being caught in possession of anything from the blue dragon's horde.

The party returned to the yuan-ti's castle, and Talon knocked on the front door.

Three yuan-ti answered the door. One asked, "Why are you out here in the desert of Ysss?"

Talon, following Carric's plan of avoiding outright lying, explained that the party had danced for the Unseelie Court. While there, they heard of lost facets which were desired by a fey and had been owned by his ancestors. One of the facets was lost in a desert. We are seeking to return the lost facet for a reward.

The yuan-ti invited the party into an anteroom. The party waited.

A yuan-ti leader showed up and questioned the party. He asked about the facet that the party sought. He said he knew nothing of the facet, but would like to see how the party could entertain them. When asked about sharing their hospitality, he replied that they were a very ceremonial people (though we had heard about the kind of ceremonies that they liked).

The party was led to a waiting room. While waiting, they prepared what they would perform, assuming song and dance was what was expected of them. Siobhan and Talon cast Hygiene spells to clean everyone up. Talon put on the best clothes that she brought. Caelesti had no clothes worthy to perform in, so she stripped down, leaving only sashes to hide her magic dagger. While the bards tuned their instruments, Caelesti worked on her lizardman dance, adding some snake-like swaying moves.

More than an hour later, the party was summoned to the throne room. The throne room was quite packed with yuan-ti. On the throne sat a large yuan-ti abomination, the lord of the castle perhaps. He spoke in draconic and asked for Talon and Caelesti to perform. The performance was quite spectacular. The lord was impressed. He said he hadn't believed that the party was really there to perform, but clearly they could.

After the performance, the lord was willing to talk about the party's other reason for visiting. Talon again told of the facet that Murdocky sought. The lord also claimed to know nothing of it and asked why the party thought that they might have it. Talon told of the magic arrow that quivered when a facet was near.

The lord said he would like another performance later. Talon said they lived to perform. The party was led back to the waiting room and was provided food and drink ... and chamber pots. The guards said that the party would be summoned again in the morning. The door was locked, and the guards departed.
