Uktar 4, 1372 DR (5:30 PM) Deep Wastes: Lake of Shadows

Meanwhile, the three warriors chase the giants down through the hole. The first to arrive can see the three giants pushing a raft into the lake. But, their attention is drawn, instead, to the other occupant of the room: a huge monster, a horrible mixture of crustacean, insect, and serpent rears itself, hissing, waving a gigantic pair of pincers. Scattered all over the floor are bones, mostly fish, but some humanoid.

Both Igor and Kress fly down into the room with the creature. The creature looks at both of the warriors and grabs Kress with both pincers, dealing some serious damage and holding him fast.

Igor pales, realizing that he will likely fill the second pincer, leaving no one left to fight unhampered. "We need help down here!" he calls, before resolutely moving in to attempt a rescue of his companion. The chuul swipes at him as he approaches within its reach, but misses due to Igor's displacement. Igor, paying extra attention to fend off a likely pincer attack, strikes the creature once, only slightly damaging the monster. "This thing is tough," he cries. Kress strains and wriggles free. He then swings his longsword twice at the horror, missing both times. Hazen flies down to flank the aberration and stabs it in a vital area with his dagger. Hazen's distraction allows Igor to strike it again, also hitting a vital spot. The chuul tries to attack Kress again, but misses twice, as the human is now fighting much more defensively.

Igor swings three times at the creature, striking twice for much damage. Kress hits the monster once with his sword, and while it is distracted, Igor slashes it once more with his greatsword, slaying it, just as Brianna arrives and peers down at the carnage. Within seconds, Veracity arrives, soon followed by Yol and Tebryn.

"What in the world is that?" asks Veracity.

"I don't know," says Igor. "But, those giants pushed a raft out onto the lake, less than thirty seconds ago."

"Let's get them!" says Veracity. She pulls out her wand of fly.
