Kress - Stats

Human Male Fighter 19, age 47 (but appears late-twenties).

Kress has noble good looks. He is exceptionally handsome and seems much younger than his 47 years. His square-jaw, bright eyes, and noble nose makes the ladies swoon. He is tall and fit with brown hair and green eyes. Think of an Aragorn who, instead of becoming the grim ranger Strider, abandons any thoughts of kingship and just wants to enjoy life. He is cynical of all those in power (both good and bad) and thus might be sporting a cynical smile. He wears mithral breastplate armor.

Fly as a Vaati (Su): For a total of seven hours per week, divided up any way he chooses, Kress can fly at a speed of 30 ft. with perfect maneuverability.

Friend and ally of the wind dukes: As one of the characters who recovered the Rod of Seven Parts, Kress will be forever remembered as a friend and ally of the wind dukes: the vaati. As such, no creature of air nor any being of the Elemental Plane of Air will attack him without being attacked first, and all such creatures will demonstrate respect for him and will assist him if able.

Youthful vigor: As a gift from Shina-Tsu-Hiko, Kress will retain his adult vigor until 1 year before his natural death.

Animate Greatcoat
Sewn from integument harvested from powerful undead, this coat is intelligent, and very fickle. If removed, it attacks independently as an 11 HD creature with 50 hp and two attacks, each at +11 for 1d6+1 damage. As an undead creature, it radiates evil and can be healed with unholy water. It acts as a cloak of the arachnida and provides a +2 natural armor bonus. (The 2e version of this item also could act as a cloak of the bat - but as only one of bat or arachnidae in a 24 hour period.)

Bone Ring
This simple ring of bone absorbs energy and ability drain attacks, using one charge for each level or ability point so protected. The ring currently has thirty charges.

Deathstrike Bracers

Each of these black steel bracers is marked with an etching of crossed swords

Three times a day as a swift (mental) action, the wearer can use melee weapons in combat to deal extra damage from critical hits and sneak attacks to constructs, elementals, oozes, plants, and undead as if they were not immune to such extra damage. You must still roll a critical threat and confirm a critical hit or qualify to deliver sneak attack damage to gain any benefit from the bracers. This effect does not allow you to overcome any other immunity or resistance to extra damage from sneak attacks or critical hits (such as the fortification armor property). This effect lasts for 1 round.

Eyes of the Spider
A silver plate with a jagged shape reminiscent of a spider's legs that fits on the head such that it covers the wearer's left eye. Eight rubies are set in the surface, starting at the covered eye and rising in a line towards the top of the head. This item uses the "headband" and "helmet or hat" slots and also the left eye's "lens or goggles" slot; the wearer can use a single lens (like an eye of charming or eye of doom) over the right eye.

Installing the device is permanent (until death) and destroys the wearer's left eye.

Three times per day, the wearer can make a gaze attack identical to a ghost's corrupting gaze. The range is 30 feet and the target must succeed at a DC 19 Fortitude save or take 2d10 points of damage plus 1d4 points of Charisma drain.

Three times per day, the wearer can cast true seeing to a range of 120 feet. The device continually grants darkvision and detect invisibility as well as providing all-around vision, so the wearer cannot be flanked and gains a +4 bonus to Spot and Search checks.

Finally, the eyes of the spider make the wearer immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).

CL 11th; Craft Wondrous Item, eyebite, circle of death, prying eyes; Price 212,000 gp.

Necrotic Elixer in Red Lacquered Vial
This concentrated lifeforce invigorates the drinker for 24 hours. During this period, no food or sleep is needed and the drinker gains a +2 bonus to Constitution. At the end of 24 hours, there is an 8 hour refractory period in which the drinker suffers a -2 penalty to Constitution and experiences nightmares.

Ring of Nekros
This ring provides a +5 to Fortitude saves vs. poisons and allows the bearer to use control undead once per week as a 14th level caster. (The 2e version of this item allowed the user to control undead at will: once per round.)

The Bloodied Moon

An amulet with red enamel inlay. Radiates evil and faint magic. When touched, a chill of negative energy strikes the character.

Claimed from the body of Captain Turpur.
