Role Playing Games

I've written several treatises describing and analyzing some aspects of the role-playing games, especially Dungeons & Dragons.

I wrote a little paper discussing Variant Rules for Metamagic.

I discuss Unearthed Arcana Weapon Groups. The original source omitted some standard weapons. I corrected that.

I analyze the Effect of Level Adjustment on character experience and discuss the method from Unearthed Arcana to gradually reduce level adjustments as characters attain higher levels.

I analyze Experience Point Awards based on ECL and CR, as defined in the Dungeon Master's Guide. The published table can be distilled into three formulae, once you fix seven errors in it. I present an alternate way to generate that table that requires just a single formula.

I discuss Character Death and Energy Drain, inspired by Andy Collins's theory of The High Cost of Dying.

I created a Campaign Survey for my prospective players to take before I started the Tarrastra campaign, so that I could find out what people liked. Feel free to take it yourself, if you wish!

For your viewing pleasure, I present a Gallery of Minifigs painted by players in the campaigns I participate in.
